Motherboard
A motherboard failure on a laptop that is out of warranty would usually mean that… it’s time for a new laptop. The price of a new motherboard is usually higher than the current value of the laptop.
Symptoms:
Plug in the power adaptor and try to start the laptop.
- Nothing happens.
- The “ON” light comes on, the fan spins, but nothing on the screen (black) and you can’t hear the HD working after 10-15 sec.
- The “ON” light comes on, the fan spins, but after a few seconds the light goes off.
- After pressing the “ON” button the screen stays black and you can hear a quiet high-pitched sound coming from the laptop.
Troubleshooting:
Look for the “lid closed” switch and try pushing it a few times. It’s usually a small switch near the hinges that is pressed when the lid(the screen) is closed. Sometimes these switches get stuck in the “lid closed” position that results in black screen(no backlight) or non-starting laptop. Also some laptops have a magnetic switch (newer Dell’s and most Apple’s), that doesn’t get stuck.
Test the laptop with another power adaptor. Although not common, the adaptor can fail and not supply the needed voltage even if it has a green “power on” light that lights up when you plug it in. Even if you measure the output voltage and it’s OK, the adaptor may have failed and wouldn’t supply that voltage under load (typically 3.5A to 6A). You can use an universal adaptor or go to an independent repair shop and ask them to check it (some shops will try to charge you for “estimate” for doing just that, so ask in advance).
Reset the RAM. See the article on RAM failures for instructions.
Remove the hard drive and the CD/DVD if it’s easily removable.
Finally try to start the laptop again with only the power adaptor plugged in and with the RAM reset and all removable components and the battery out. If there’s still nothing on the screen, you will need to bring it to a repair shop.
Did #61 ever receive an answer? My hp, two days after the year warranty was over, did the same thing: color lines all over the screen. My computer man said to throw it away, but hard to believe it can;t be fixed. HELP!!!
Make certain your ceremony costume is produced with thin, light breathable content In the event you’re acquiring married over a seashore, I’m proceeding to assume you’re going to be obtaining married somewhere sunny and sizzling, the previous point you need to do is overheat and sweat all your make up away from on your own marriage time of day. Select fabric like cotton, chiffon or silk to keep you cool, these materials are also lgt and thin so wedding dresses made from these fabrics are quickly transportable.Be certain you can transport your wedding ceremony costume

Why does my HP Laptop 6710b turns on/off a few seconds after I plug the charger without pressing power

Hi, i would epriciate if you can help solving my problem.
- hp 4515s, 2.5 years old, shuts down suddenly and won’t turn on with battery inserted (with and without power cord), or without battery and plugged cord
- battery is fully charged
- no led lights indication at any time
- tried removing battery, holding switch button for 30 sec, plugging in cord and returning battery – no effect
- noticed increase in temperature during normal usage (on hard surface) in last 2 weeks despite the fact that cooling system is fairly clean
- current power adapter was not charging once when plugged in, but worked normaly for months after that
Is it possible that it is just a power problem, rather the worse option of fried motherboard? thanks for your answer.
I have an Acer Aspire AS5535-5452 Notebook PC that I purchased from TigerDirect 07/31/2009. I have enjoyed it since I purchased it. I’ve not really had a problem with it until recently (12/18/2011). I had been using it that day as I do everyday, it always worked fine, great as a matter of fact, and on this day it gave no indication that it was about to malfunction. So here’s what happened: I was using it, sitting on my couch playing a game on it and I took a break and put it on standby, which is what I normally do. It powered down and all the lights and screen went off so I closed the lid and set it on the floor on it’s edge leaning against the couch. I have done this many times and it always worked and as far as I know, there shouldn’t be anything wrong with handling it this way as long as it’s not dropped or bumped? But anyway the problems is…after I had put it down and attempted to restart it about 2 hours later, it wouldn’t start. What it does is after I turned it completely off and pushed the power button: the start light comes on and stays lit, the led on the front of the computer is on and stays on, the DVD has power on it because the tray will open and close, the CPU fan runs shortly after the power button is pushed and stays on. And that’s about it….there is no hard drive activity and the screen stays black, there is no text or any message at start up, actually there is no start up.
Some things I’ve done are: I did a power reset according to the instructions on acer’s website, I removed the hard drive and reseated it…I removed the memory modules and reseated them, I removed the CPU and reseated it…and I used compressed air to clean all areas I’ve mentioned.
It just seems so strange to me that it was working fine all along and all of a sudden for no apparent reason and without warning, this happens
