Sony Vario VGN-NS30E Lap top .I’ve had this from new some 4 years ago, use it every day, never a problem and really looked after it, the other week the following message came up “ The Installed Battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible Click OK to enter hibernation” did that, at the same time the battery indicator was showing flat. After a few attempts with no success I came to the conclusion the battery was dead and decided to use on main power , this I have done for the last few weeks, Inevitably this week I went about purchasing a new battery and decided to go to a local small retailer.

I gave him my old battery which has the details VGP-BPS 13/B 11.1 V (cc 11, 1v) 400 mAh/49Wh and assumed he would get me an identical battery. When the replacement arrived I inserted it into the lap top and low and behold the above statement appeared again. I checked the details on the back of the new battery and they were different they read VGP-BPS21A 10.8V (10,8V) 5 000MaH/54Wh, this battery had cost me the best part of £100 so I went back to the retailer, who wasn’t pleased to see me and he embarked on trying to prove to me that both my old and new battery worked ????? and tried them in another lap top proving they worked, seemed a bit “all smoke and mirrors” and that the problem lay with a fault with the mother board in my lap top. I’ve paid out £100 very doubt full about the retailer because of his attitude and when I asked him for a quote to sort the problem out he said he would email me and hasn’t.

I’ve spoken to a few people, I must admit I can’t work out, why is everything else on the lap top working, emails etc if there is a fault with the motherboard. ? Would appreciate your honest brutal answer
