I have enjoyed it since I purchased it. I've not really had a problem with it until recently (12/18/2011). I had been using it that day as I do everyday, it always worked fine, great as a matter of fact, and on this day it gave no indication that it was about to malfunction. So here's what happened: I was using it, sitting on my couch playing a game on it and I took a break and put it on standby, which is what I normally do. It powered down and all the lights and screen went off so I closed the lid and set it on the floor on it's edge leaning against the couch. I have done this many times and it always worked and as far as I know, there shouldn't be anything wrong with handling it this way as long as it's not dropped or bumped? But anyway the problems is...after I had put it down and attempted to restart it about 2 hours later, it wouldn't start. What it does is after I turned it completely off and pushed the power button: the start light comes on and stays lit, the led on the front of the computer is on and stays on, the DVD has power on it because the tray will open and close, the CPU fan runs shortly after the power button is pushed and stays on. And that's about it....there is no hard drive activity and the screen stays black, there is no text or any message at start up, actually there is no start up. Some things I've done are: I did a power reset according to the instructions on acer's website, I removed the hard drive and reseated it...I removed the memory modules and reseated them, I removed the CPU and reseated it...and I used compressed air to clean all areas I've mentioned.
