Look up of hp laptops. If you reinstall your system make sure that you check up your bios. Here you have to change one setting to be able to install windows or something else. What change i do not remember but you can find it out by calling the support of hp
best wishes

R-Drive Image is an excellent tool for making a bit-by-bit exact copy of your drive (once you have the computer configured just the way you like it and if you're happy it's working well).

If you're likely to re-install, Google around for making a slipstream DVD - rapid install of Windows XP (for example) with all the Service Packs included. Makes life a lot easier. But not as easy as having the whole OS drive copied to somewhere safe ;)

i would recommend having a disk backup image, instead of reinstalling the necessary software and drivers, saves time and effort, how about try using norton ghost or acronis true image.

Nice tutorial :) Definitely worth bookmarking.

Just a little addition. If you attempt copying files from a damaged hard disk, you're sure to meet with errors. To successfully copy these files, use JFileRecovery. It's a free application that does the job far better than many paid software. Do a Google search for it. :)
